We can cut the wool felt for you to any size with a maximum size of 1.83 x 20m. We do not charge extra costs for cutting strips from 20cm across the full width. For other cutting instructions, we make a cutting plan in which we calculate the most economical composition for the material.
Cutting tools: You can easily use a Stanley knife to cut wool felt.
We can punch the wool felt in every shape. We have to make a die cut for your design. The maximum size of a die cut is 1,8×1,5m. What we need from you is a drawing in black and white. On the basis of your drawing we can make a quote. Punching is a technique suitable for large editions of 100 pieces or more.
To punch circles we already have a set of die cuts. Click here for the complete list of sizes we have in stock.
Shapes are done with an digital cutting machine. The thin blade cuts the shapes from the material using a 2D vector file (.dxf or .ai). The result is just as smooth as with punching, with the great additional advantage that no punching knife needs to be made. Cutting is therefore the ideal solution for precisely cutting out shapes in small numbers.
From a thickness of 3mm, wool felt from HOLLANDFELT improves the acoustics. The sound absorption coefficient can be as high as 0.56α with a thickness of 3mm and 0.82α with a thickness of 5mm. Thanks to these and other naturally occurring properties, such as insulating and dirt-repellent, this material is ideally suited for use as acoustic wall coverings.
For gluing wool felt to walls, we recommend our special felt glue in our range. This is a low-emission dispersion contact adhesive.
The wool felt can be glued directly to the wall like wallpaper. To do this, the glue must be applied to the wall on one side with the supplied textured roller, after which the felt can be pressed directly into the wet glue. Using this textured roller (or a larger roller with the same structure) is important to achieve the correct thickness of the adhesive layer.
After installation, the felt must be rolled immediately with a solid rubber roller.
If the surface consists of plaster, plaster, stone or wooden panels, the adhesive can be applied without pre-treatment. It doesn’t matter if there are holes or cracks in the wall, as long as there are no pimples on it.
If the total consists of several strips of wool felt, these must be placed in a dumped manner (see fig. 1).

Cut felt of 1 and 2 mm thick in half and place it in a butt position from 3 mm thick (see fig. 2): When the first strip has been placed, place the second strip on the wall in the wet glue and slide it against the previous strip so that the seam is no longer visible.

We recommend that you apply wool felt to walls with two people due to the large roll width of 183 cm. NB! Gluing thick wool felt to overhanging walls can cause problems due to the weight of the felt.
If you would like to use wool felt as a wall covering, please ALWAYS contact us about the possibilities.
When processing felt, it can be useful if it is self-adhesive, which is why we sell adhesive film that has been specially developed for making felt self-adhesive. This means it adheres well to other felt, plastics, wood, paper, cardboard, metal, etc. The foil can be applied before any operations such as punching or cutting.
We sell the adhesive film on rolls in the following sizes:
We can offer you this treatment when ordering a complete roll.
This treatment makes wool felt extra dirt-repellent. Wool already has the natural property of being dirt-repellent, but a substance can be added during dyeing that creates an extra dirt-repellent layer on the wool felt. This treatment is done on wool felt if the natural dirt repellency is not sufficient for the project in question.

This operation ensures that the moths no longer like the wool. During dyeing, a flavoring agent is added that is stabilized by adding an acid. This treatment is applied to wool felt that is permanently installed.

This treatment inhibits the discoloration of wool felt by UV light. To achieve this, a layer of synthetic resin with UV-resistant properties is finally applied during painting. This treatment is done on wool felt that is placed in direct sunlight for a longer period of time.
